Discussion of Rose, Sherman, Garfield, and Davis

1. Rose discusses how “TV advertising has been losing its impact for years” (229). He tells the reader that a new president is coming into view in the internet. Interactive advertising is the way of the future. The consumer is becoming more educated and less convince by television advertising. Not to mention that as Rose points out TiVo and other technologies are allowing viewers to skip over the unneeded information. This idea makes me think about previous readings and realize that the consumers are becoming more educated and ready be involved in advertising.

2. Garfield points out a comment made by CEO of Denuo about online video posting. He says “If you aren’t posting, you don’t exist, … People say, ‘I post, therefore I am.’” (224). This tells a common consensus that online videos allow anyone to be a star which is the cause of its popularity. It was then brought up that by even networks are adapting to this I then thought well at least sports are still online but I soon realized that even sports are constantly being watched online like the March Madness.

3. Davis adds to the idea of consumer involvement with his revolutionary means of filmmaking. He is using the smarter more technology inept audience to make his films popular. Although the limitations of networks and websites make it difficult to make money this new consumer craze appear to be “the future of television” (236).

4. The surge of technology is also affecting the means of artists. It is allowing art to be created by anyone. This is forcing artist to be more creative than ever before.
